A woman and her boyfriend were hospitalized with stab wounds allegedly inflicted by the woman's ex-boyfriend in the Fairmont area, police said.

The woman's current and ex-boyfriend got into a fight in the 4600 block of Wightman Street shortly after 1 p.m. Monday. The former boyfriend allegedly stabbed the other man multiple times, San Diego police Sgt. Garry Collins said.

The woman tried to stop the stabbing and was then herself stabbed, according to Collins.

Both stabbing victims were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, he said.

The ex-boyfriend fled the scene in a late 1990s green Ford Mustang.
