SAN DIEGO -- A man allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment Monday, tried to rape her and then slashed her with a box cutter before fleeing naked into the street and being arrested, a San Diego police lieutenant said.
Leobardo Aurelio Adams, 37, was taken into custody without further incident after arriving officers saw him running nude in the 4200 block of Camino de la Plaza, said Lt. Tom Carmody, of the San Diego Police Department.
"He broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment and once inside, tried to rape her, then cut her numerous times with a box cutter knife before jumping out the window to try and escape," Carmody said.
The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Adams was also taken to a hospital for injuries he received when he jumped out the window.
