Ex-Husband Accused In Santee Woman's Death

UPDATED: 6:59 pm PDT May 27, 2008

The ex-husband of an East County woman found dead in her driveway was arrested in Idaho over the Memorial Day weekend and booked on suspicion of murder, authorities reported Tuesday.

Police in the Ada County city of Meridian took 60-year-old Frank A. Weaver into custody on Monday evening after a resident saw him sitting in a minivan outside a vacant home and thought he appeared suspicious, according to San Diego County sheriff's officials.

A computer check revealed that he was wanted for questioning in connection with the death of his ex-wife, 50-year-old Santee resident Maureen Weaver. She was found dead in front of her home in the 10400 block of Strathmore Drive on Thursday morning.

An autopsy determined that Weaver's death was a homicide, sheriff's Lt. Dennis Brugos said. Authorities have not publicly disclosed her cause of death.

Maureen Weaver, who worked for a Kearny Mesa insurance company, lived with her 10-year-old son. She and Frank Weaver divorced in the late 1990s.

Sheriff's detectives were en route to Idaho this morning to interrogate the suspect, Brugos said.
