Santee Woman's Death Was Homicide

POSTED: 5:30 pm PDT May 23, 2008

An East County woman found dead in her driveway was slain, authorities reported Friday.

A neighbor walking her dog spotted the body of Maureen Weaver, 50, outside her home in the 10400 block of Strathmore Drive in Santee shortly before 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

An autopsy determined that Weaver's death was a homicide, sheriff's Sgt. Dave Martinez said Friday afternoon. He declined to disclose how she was killed.

Thursday, sheriff's homicide Lt. Dennis Brugos said the woman's body -- which was found lying at the entrance to her garage, in front of a parked sport utility vehicle -- bore clear signs of "trauma." Brugos would not provide further detail about the injuries.

There have been no arrests in the case, and detectives have not identified any suspects, Martinez said.

Weaver, a divorcee, lived with her 10-year-old son, Martinez said.

Detectives intend to interview her ex-husband, who lives in the San Diego area, but have not contacted him, Martinez said.
