East County Rollover Crash Kills Pickup Driver

EL CAJON, Calif. -- A 47-year-old Lakeside man was killed when the pickup truck he was driving veered off an East County freeway connector and crashed into a stand of trees and overturned, authorities said Tuesday.The accident on the ramp from southbound state Route 67 to westbound Interstate 8 in El Cajon occurred about 4:40 p.m. Monday, said California Highway Patrol Officer Brad Pennings.The motorist was traveling at around 80 miles per hour when he lost control and was ejected from the pickup, winding up pinned underneath it, Pennings said.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, died at the scene.
