High Temps To Start Dropping

SAN DIEGO -- Temperatures were expected to start dropping Monday, providing some relief from the heat wave that rolled into town late last week, according to the National Weather Service.
Monday's forecast calls for temperatures from 74 to 79 near the coast, 82 to 87 inland, 86 to 91 in the western valleys, 93 to 98 near the foothills, 87 to 97 in the mountains and 105 to 110 in the deserts.
A more significant drop in temperatures was likely Tuesday, the weather service reported. Tuesday's forecast calls for temperatures in the 60s and 70s along the coast, 70s and 80s in the valleys and mountains and low 100s in the deserts.Eleven high temperature records were set Sunday in the San Diego area, with some communities experiencing their hottest May 18 in 25 years, according to the weather service.Campo heated up to 99 degrees, beating the record of 92 set in 2000.Other records include: Alpine, 94, breaking the record of 93 set in 1978 Campo Asos, 97, breaking the record of 92 set in 2000 El Cajon, 95, breaking the record of 94 set in 1983 Escondido, 98, breaking the record of 90 set in 1983 Ramona, 96, breaking the record of 92 set in 1986 Ramona Airport, 97, breaking the record of 92 set in 1986 San Diego Lindbergh Field, 86, tying the record set in 1983 Brown Field, 89, breaking the record of 84 set in 1986 Vista, 94, breaking the record of 90 set in 1983 Wild Animal Park, 97, breaking the record of 95 set in 1986
