SAN DIEGO -- A man killed when the car he was driving veered off an Encanto-area thoroughfare and plowed into the back of a parked school bus was identified Saturday as 54-year-old Frank Womack of San Diego.

Womack ran a red light at Omeara Street and Skyline Drive before his Honda station wagon drifted off the roadway and hit the bus about 3:30 p.m Friday, San Diego police said.

Womack died at the scene. His age was originally given by police as 59.

There were no students in the bus at the time of the collision, and no one was injured.

The county Medical Examiner's Office was unable to confirm a police theory that Womack may have suffered some type of medical emergency before the accident, since there were no skid marks on the street leading up to the point of impact.

A medical Examiner's investigator said the victim died of blunt force injuries.
