Local Students Suspended For Alleged Cheating

POSTED: 6:07 am PDT April 29, 2008
UPDATED: 5:38 pm PDT April 29, 2008

Six Rancho Bernardo High School students were on suspension on Tuesday for allegedly hacking into the school's computer system to change grades and access tests, 10News reported.

The cheating scandal appears to be limited to RB High and does not yet extend into other Poway Unified School District high schools in Poway and Rancho Penasquitos, The San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

"A number of kids have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation," Principal Paul Robinson told the newspaper. "The first indication something was wrong was discovered late last Friday."

Action was taken Monday, he said.

San Diego police have been notified and are waiting for school officials to finish their investigation before getting involved, Robinson told the Union-Tribune.
