SUV Crash Victim Involved In Fatal 2006 Crash

POSTED: 4:52 pm PDT April 11, 2008
UPDATED: 11:47 am PDT April 12, 2008

A man killed in a rollover crash Thursday was scheduled to appear in court Friday for his involvement in a previous car crash, 10News reported.

Charles Amaro, 20, died early Thursday morning when the SUV he was riding in rolled over, according to authorities.

Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.

Amaro had been scheduled to appear at the South County Courthouse, authorities said.

Amaro had been accused of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in a 2006 crash that killed, 19-year-old Nicole Flortree.

Police said Amaro passed a field sobriety test but smelled of alcohol.

Amaro's uncle, Kenny Santiago, said his nephew may not have learned his lesson from that crash.

"God gives you this chance to live and to learn and to experience and to help people and contribute to this society. And it's like, don't abuse it," said Santiago.
