The family of a missing Marine said they have received e-mails from her, 10News reported.

Lance Cpl. Margaret Reid and her husband, Pfc. Kevyn Reid, disappeared from their home in Escondido.

Margaret Reid was seen last week on surveillance video using an ATM in Kansas.

On Tuesday, a family friend received a message through MySpace and a more personal e-mail.

Escondido police said they believe the couple left town to avoid deployment to Iraq.

"I speak for the family, and we're angry if she did this and it was her choice," said one family member.

For now, the couple's absence is called unauthorized by military officials.

After a month, military lawyers said, the penalties become much steeper.

Officials said that more than 5,500 troops have gone AWOL since the Iraq War began.
