Judge Asked To Unseal Off-Duty Cop Shooting Warrants

SAN DIEGO -- A San Diego newspaper and three TV stations are asking a judge to unseal search warrants in the investigation of an off-duty police officer who shot a woman and her 8-year-old son.The motion was filed Monday by lawyers for the San Diego Union-Tribune and stations KFMB, KGTV and KNSD.Attorney Guylyn Cummins said it lets the court know the press is watching. A spokesman for the San Diego County district attorney declined to comment on the case.
Police in Oceanside have released few details of their investigation into the March 15 shooting by San Diego police Officer Frank White after a traffic dispute.White shot Rachel Silva, 27, twice in the arm and struck her son, Johnny, in the leg.At least six or more search warrants and other documents in the case have been sealed by court order.
