Family Rebuilds Home Thanks To Company's Efforts

A Ramona family of nine whose house burned down in the San Diego wildfires began the effort to rebuild with the help of a few new friends.

Victoria Oleson, 11, played like it was just another day. She showed off her dog's new litter of pups. The pups were not around when her house burned to the ground.

"I have to share a bed," said Victoria.

But Victoria knows it won't be long before she has her own bed.

"I'm overwhelmed with the generous gift of the Bradfords and the Rock Church, and everybody else, my own church," said Victoria's father, John Oleson.

John Oleson has been involved in the planning process. It was made possible by Greg Bradford, owner of Envision Homes.

Bradford gave the Oleson family the plans and the house that will go with it -- for free.

Bradford said, "I heard an audible voice."

He said his inspiration for the good deed came from a higher power.

"Build a house for a family who has no insurance," said Bradford.

The Oleson family fit the criteria. They changed insurance companies last fall looking for a cheaper rate. The new company with which the Olesons signed sent the family a message once it realized the house was in Ramona.

John said, "(They said) 'Oh, we don't like to insure in Ramona.'"

Shortly after, the Oleson's house was consumed by the wildfires, destroying almost everything.

"No other book survived, but the Bible pages did. I took that as a sign from God that he's going to make everything OK," said John Oleson.

Two months later, the family was chosen for a new house.

Victoria and her family have only a few more months to live in a trailer before going home.
