Authorities Investigate Car Dropped Through Roof

POSTED: 6:32 pm PST February 18, 2008
UPDATED: 11:37 am PST February 19, 2008

Someone used a front end loader to drop a car onto a roof in an industrial park Sunday, and San Diego sheriff's deputies are trying to figure out why.

A heavy-duty construction loader was used Sunday around 7:30 p.m. to hoist the 1966 Chevrolet Nova and drop it onto the building on Specialty Drive near Activity Drive, said Sheriff's Lt. Mike McClain.

Vista firefighters discovered the car while at the industrial park to investigate a tripped alarm and informed sheriff's deputies about the dropped vehicle, McClain said.

The damaged business sells sliding glass doors, but no damage estimate was available, McClain said.

The car was parked in the lot at the building and was apparently having work done on it by a company in the industrial park.

No suspects are in custody, McClain said.
