Decision To Move Injured Athlete Placed On Hold

ESCONDIDO, Calif. -- Blue Cross of California has issued its decision to move injured high school football player Scotty Eveland but that decision is on hold, 10News reported10News has learned that the case is being reviewed by an independent medical review board.The board could agree with Blue Cross that the teen should be moved to a skilled nursing facility., or it could force the insurer to continue to pay for his care in the acute rehab unit at Palomar Medical Center. A final decision is expected Friday or early next week.
"Scott has been with us since Day One… he'll stay until the appeal process is completed," said Andy Hoang of Palomar Medical Center.Eveland was hurt four months ago and is making slow progress from a severe brain injury.
