San Diego police are looking for a man they say tried to kidnap a 15-year-old girl in San Ysidro Friday evening.

The 15-year-old was walking in the 100 block of West Mount Carmel Drive when she saw a red Honda sedan driving next to her. She told police that the man driving the car was looking at her.

The girl started to walk faster to try and get away, but the man sped up, drove past her, and then stopped his car to prevent her from walking across the street.

She told police that the man then got out of the car, grabbed her by the arm, and told her to get into his car.

The girl was able to twist her arm to break free from the man, and run away.

He got into the car and drove away. Police say he was last seen turning onto Alaquinas Drive.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30’s, with a medium build, wearing a grey shirt and jeans. He had a beard and brown hair to his ears. The car he was driving is described as an older red Honda sedan, very dirty, with a loud muffler.

"Stuff like this is just unheard of," said Javier Rios, who came to the girl's aid before police arrived. "I started noticing a crowd of people and there was a girl crying."
