OTAY MESA, Calif. -- Strong winds are buffeting the region Friday morning. In Otay Mesa doors were ripped off their hinges, fences were flattened and tiles ripped off roofs in what the National Weather Service said could have been a small twister.
Residents who lived along Agosto Street near Del Sur Boulevard saw the most damage. Some of them thought they felt an earthquake until they went outside and saw the wind damage, 10News reports. It is highly unusual for a tornado to occur in San Diego County. The NWS will investigate the damaged area caused by the high winds on Friday to determine if the damage was really caused by a twister. A wind advisory will be in effect in desert areas until 10 a.m. and in mountain areas until 2 p.m. A coastal flood advisory will be in force along the San Diego County coastline until 2 p.m. Tuesday.
