I-Team Revises Sheriff's Dept. Scores
E-mail from I-Team producer Felicia Kit to Jan Caldwell of the San Diego Sheriff's Dept. Jan-The four San Diego Sheriff's substations that were audited as part of the CalAware public records audit on October 16 have been rescored to reflect the reply to the auditor's written request for information on copy fees. I am faxing the scoring details for each substation to your attention.Although the auditor did not see a reply to the written request, we will take the faxed copy as proof that an email was indeed sent on October 29. Mr. Faigin also noted in the fax cover letter that the written request was received on October 19. Therefore, the new score takes into account that a reply to the written request was received in 10 days.
Do you have a response to these revised scores? Also, there is some confusion in the statement you released. It says: "A request from a substation or facility is a request of the entire San Diego County Sheriff's Department. As a result, requests for information made at substations or a facility where the information is not located may have to be forwarded to other locations, and may delay access to the requested information. Often information and records may be kept in a centralized location and may not be readily available in substations or facilities."However, the San Diego Sheriff's Department website states: "If the report is less than one year old and generated at a Sheriff station or sub-station, please contact the station or sub-station to obtain a copy."Which is correct, your statement or the website?
