El Cajon Police Dept. Response

E-mail written to I-Team producer Kristen Castillo

Kristen,

Chief Diamond has been home ill for the past two days and unable to respond to your email.

Please be assured that we strive to comply with laws established by the CPRA in order to provide the public with access to government information. We have made several changes over the past year to ensure that information is readily and quickly available, as evidenced by additional information recently added to our website, and the implementation of an automated press release distribution system. Any individual can visit our website and subscribe to the press release information, receiving an instant email should they so desire.

We appreciate your feedback and welcome the opportunity to continually improve our compliance with the CPRA.

Captain Deborah Setzer
Administrative Services Bureau
On behalf of Chief Clifford Diamond

E-mail written to I-Team reporter Lauren Reynolds

Dear Lauren Reynolds,

Requests for public records under CPRA happen very infrequently and subsequently our staff sometimes forget the procedures for compliance as these are perishable skills. El Cajon Police Personnel strive to comply with all the laws pertaining to records requests and are in the process of making changes to ensure applicable information is readily available, as evidenced by the improvements made to our website and our automated press release distribution system. The El Cajon Police Department is open to sharing all appropriate information and welcome feedback from our community members. Our Department web page and press information system can also be utilized to provide such feedback and inquiries. We welcome the opportunity to improve our services and comply with the California Public Records Act.

Lieutenant Steve Shakowski
Public Information Officer
