National City Police Dept. Response
The National City Police Department is pleased to have received a higher rating from Cal Aware and KGTV 10News in regards to the recent California Public Records Act (CPRA) audit. We remain committed to serving our community and complying with all applicable laws.We found Cal Aware auditors are not always specific regarding their requests, but when Cal Aware auditors requested specific documents, they were immediately made available by NCPD personnel. In our case, there was a minimum of four e-mail exchanges and a letter sent to the auditor from our Senior Assistant City Attorney in order to ascertain the specific information requested. Cal Aware auditors caused a delay when they did not respond to our request for additional information in a timely manner. We will continue to make available for inspection and review those documents covered under the CPRA.While we appreciate Cal Aware's dedication to ensuring an open government, an open dialogue as to the procedures they interpret and apply under the CPRA would best serve all Californians.
