The information is available through Megan's Law, which requires those who have been convicted of certain crimes to register as sex offendersThe new system will prevent sex offenders from being able to move from place to place, Lockyer said. The information will be made available in 13 languages, including Arabic, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese, 10News reported.Megan's Law allows the public access to information about sex offenders in their neighborhood. The information is available at the San Diego County Sheriff's Department main office, or by calling (900) 448-3000Earlier this week, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted to create a map on its Web site showing roughly where sex offenders live. The "pin map" won't contain details about any specific registered sex offender, and will show only an approximate location of the person's home. The map, which will cost the county $15,000 in public safety funds, should be up and running in July, according to Chief Administrative Officer Walt Ekard. The Sheriff's Department's Web site has already put up a link, in anticipation of the map.
