An injured North County high school football player is showing signs of improvement, 10News reported.

A spokesman for Palomar Hospital said Scott Eveland is out of his coma.

He is still not communicating but is more alert, hospital officials said.

Eveland is in acute rehab where therapists are working on his posture.

Eveland fell into a coma last month after suffering a head injury while playing for Mission Hills High School in San Marcos.
