One man was hospitalized and another was arrested Thursday in connection with a fight over drugs and money in which one man hit the other over the head with a rock in a sock.

About 10 p.m. Wednesday, Weusi Maarufo McGowan, 36, went to the apartment of a 54-year-old man in the 3500 block of Dalbergia Street and allegedly hit the victim with a rock, then tied him up and ransacked the apartment, taking money and drugs, said San Diego police Sgt. Rich Nemetz.

He then allegedly stole the victim's 1994 Ford Taurus and drove away.

The victim freed himself and jumped out of a second-story window in an attempt to stop the auto theft, injuring himself in the process, Nemetz said.

Police found the victim's car in the 4700 block of Imperial Avenue and arrested McGowan with the help of a police dog. After being treated for a bite wound, he was jailed on suspicion of robbery, assault, kidnapping and auto theft, Nemetz said.

The victim was hospitalized for injuries he suffered jumping out of the window, he said.
