UPDATED: 6:43 pm PDT August 11, 2007

A deckhand suspected of stabbing a fellow worker Saturday on a fishing boat docked in San Diego was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, a Harbor police lieutenant said.

Robert Legerrette, 68, who is on parole, was arrested about 2 p.m., after Harbor police received a call from the fire department about an unruly person, said Lt. Kirk Nichols.

About 6 a.m., a man was stabbed several times in the upper body on the Alaska, a fishing boat docked at 750 North Harbor Drive, and police recognized Legerrette, who witnesses said fled with a knife, as the suspect in the stabbing, he said.

The stabbing victim was hospitalized and Legerrette was taken into custody, Nichols said.
