SAN DIEGO -- The county medical examiner's office has identified the victim of a single-car accident on Interstate 8 early Saturday morning as Susana Van Burken, of Alpine.

The 51-year-old was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck eastbound when the truck left the roadway and rolled down a steep embankment, the examiner's office said.

A passerby noticed the truck and called authorities at 5:40 a.m. Saturday. Rescuers found the driver restrained in her driver seat and unresponsive with apparent injuries.

Van Burken, a legal assistant for Petco, was pronounced dead at 6:40 a.m., the examiner's office said.

The accident is under investigation.
