SAN DIEGO -- San Diego State University had the most productive faculty among any small research school in the nation, it was announced Friday. SDSU earned the top spot in a survey of faculty publications, honors and citations achieved in 2005, according to Academic Analytics, an education research organization. The information also resulted in SDSU's clinical psychology Ph.D. program being ranked No. 1 in the nation earlier this year by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The "small research school" category refers to those that offer 14 or fewer doctoral programs, with no regard for enrollment size. SDSU offers 14 such programs in conjunction with University of California, San Diego, University of California, Santa Barbara and Claremont Graduate University. "This distinction reflects the solid work being done by faculty and staff at the premiere urban research university," said SDSU President Stephen Weber. "Scholarly productivity and research are expressions of our faculty's diligence to provide a learning environment that serves both our students and our community."
