Authorities searched Monday for an 18-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a man at a South Bay home where friends had gathered to watch the Oscar de la Hoya-Floyd Mayweather boxing match on TV.

Kevin Jacob Olvera, 21, of Chula Vista was shot in the head at a home on G Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday, said Lt. Tro Peltekian of the Chula Vista Police Department.

Benito Guerrero, 18, was being sought in connection with the shooting, he said.

"It's early in the investigation, but the benefit is we know who the suspect is," Peltekian said.

Olvera and some friends had assembled at the G Street home to watch Saturday night's boxing match when some uninvited guests began harassing women who were also there, broadcast stations reported.

Olvera asked the unwelcome guests to leave, and that's when he was shot in the head, according to television stations.

Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the CVPD's Homicide Unit at 619-691-5202.
