SAN DIEGO -- Construction began Thursday on a fence that will allow people to circle Lake Miramar for the first time since Sept. 11, 2001, 10News reported. The path over the dam at Lake Miramar was closed as a security precaution to protect the local water supply. The closure meant everyone who walked, jogged and biked could no longer circle the lake and had to turn around at a dead end.
Officials said the construction of the fence should be complete by July 1.There are plans to install security lighting and video surveillance to further protect San Diego’s water supply.
