Earthquake Rattles San Diego County
4.2 Quake Did Not Cause Damage, Injury

BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif. -- A magnitude 4.2 quake shook the desert in northern San Diego County early Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of any injury or damage, authorities said.
The temblor struck at 4:11 a.m. about 10 miles north-northwest of Borrego Springs, Calif., according to a preliminary report by the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was felt as far as 30 miles away in Palm Springs.
A sheriff's dispatcher said there were no reports of any injury or damage.
Borrego Springs is 90 miles northeast of San Diego.
