The temblor struck at 4:11 a.m. about 10 miles north-northwest of Borrego Springs, Calif., according to a preliminary report by the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was felt as far as 30 miles away in Palm Springs.

A sheriff's dispatcher said there were no reports of any injury or damage.
