Stabbing Suspect Ruled Mentally Competent For Trial

SAN DIEGO -- A man police said stabbed a couple in Hillcrest and then sat down to wait for officers to arrest him has been ruled mentally competent to stand trial.However, the public defender for Jared Jacobson, 31, wants a second opinion.A judge granted a request for another mental evaluation at a Monday hearing.In previous court appearances, Jacobson tried to fire his attorneys and the judge.The two victims in the stabbing have since recovered.
