Random Violence Rocks Hillcrest Neighborhood

Couple Recovering After Being Stabbed In Broad Daylight

A parolee with rap sheets in four states was back behind bars Monday in connection with a seemingly unprovoked knife attack on a couple in a Hillcrest-area business district over the weekend, authorities reported.

Jared Isaac Jacobson, 30, was arrested shortly after Sunday’s assault, which left the victims with non-life-threatening wounds, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The couple had just left a pharmacy in the 300 block of Washington Street about noon when Jacobson allegedly attacked them with a steak knife, then walked off, sat on a nearby curb and smoked cigarettes until officers arrived.

Witnesses reported seeing no altercation prior to the assaults, SDPD Lt. Jorge Duran said.

"It looks like the stabbing may have been an unprovoked, random type of incident," he told a local TV station.

Jacobson had been released from prison Jan. 27, according a news station.

The suspect, who has a criminal record in Arizona, California, Montana and Washington, is scheduled to be arraigned in downtown San Diego on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.
