SAN DIEGO -- The records of 198 foreign students at San Diego State University will be turned over to the Immigration and Naturalization Service this week, 10News reported Tuesday.
The INS submitted a written request for the information last week.
Since Sept. 11, the INS and the FBI have been visiting college campuses to gather information on the enrollment status and addresses of some Middle Eastern students.
"This is information the students fill out on a form whey they apply to the university and agree to allow the university to release this information in the event we're contacted by the INS," SDSU spokesperson Jack Beresford explained. "So we have prior consent in this case to release this information."
One of the material witnesses in the attacks was a SDSU student.
