SAN DIEGO -- Looking for a great stocking stuffer this holiday and want to help out a great cause at the same time?10News showed an updated version of the old pin-up calendar. The calendar is not ordinary, and it's produced by extraordinary people.
"Everybody involved in this production volunteered their time, effort and resources to make it possible," said calendar producer Manuela Mezzadri.Mezzadri works with members of the military. A couple of years ago, she wanted to find a way to boost the morale of soldiers overseas and help their families at the same time. The model and actress came up with an idea for a calendar. She got her friends together, and Operation Calendar was born."She said it was for charity to help the seriously wounded Marines, and I was in right away," said photographer Monique Feil. But, there's a catch. Mezzadri wanted the calendar to be special and unique for the soldiers. The models aren't wearing a stitch of clothing. That's where body paint artist Brian Bond and his crew came in."To do something really abstract and throw in paint all over somebody isn't cool. But, to do a '50s diner outfit that somebody wore on their first job in the '50s makes them go, 'Wow,'" said Bond.Everyone who worked on this project said they accomplished what they set out to do. They created a calendar with taste and for a very good cause. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the calendar go to wounded soldiers and their families. If you'd like to find out more information about how to buy Operation Calendar, click on OperationCalendar.org.
