'Stripper-Gate' Club Manager Sentenced

Prison Time Already Served

A former Cheetahs strip club manager was sentenced to two years in prison Thursday, time that he's already served, for his role in the so-called City Hall "stripper-gate" corruption scandal.

John D'Intino, 55, pleaded guilty in August 2003 to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to receive and possess unregistered firearms with obliterated serial numbers. He went into custody immediately and remained behind bars until August 2005, when he was released on bail.

D'Intino was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Miller more than 17 months after others indicted in the scheme were convicted.

D'Intino walked out of the federal courthouse a free man after the sentencing, local media reported.

Former San Diego City Councilmen Ralph Inzunza, Michael Zucchet and Charles Lewis, along with lobbyist Lance Malone and Cheetahs owner Michael Galardi were indicted in 2003. Lewis died before trial, but Inzunza, Zucchet and Malone were convicted of extortion, wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy.

Galardi pleaded guilty and testified against his co-defendants.

Inzunza, sentenced to 21 months in prison, is out on bail while appealing his convictions.

Miller reversed Zucchet's convictions in November 2005, saying he saw no evidence of a quid-pro-quo agreement between the former councilman and the strip club defendants. The government is appealing Miller's ruling.

Malone was sentenced to three years in prison and has agreed to drop his appeal as part of a plea agreement in connection with corruption charges in Las Vegas.
