Hundreds Lose Power In Two Separate Outages

UPDATED: 6:07 am PST November 26, 2006

About 400 San Diego Gas & Electric residential and commercial customers in northwest San Diego County were without power Saturday night in two separate power outages, according to the electric company.

The first outage affecting about 240 customers in Ladera Ranch, Coto De Caza and Ortega was reported at 2:44 p.m., according to the utility.

The outage was believed to have been caused by an underground electrical system problem, said SDG&E spokesman Eddie Van Herik.

Herik said about 90 customers were still without power as of Saturday night and that they should have their power restored around 8 p.m.

At 4:35 p.m., about 289 customers in Old Town, Mission Hills and Hillcrest lost power because of a problem in the overhead electrical system, Herik said.

Power was expected to be restored there by 9 p.m., according to the utility.
