SAN DIEGO -- San Diego Animal Advocates, a nonprofit animal rights organization, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people reponsible for burning two cats in Pacific Beach.
According to the county Department of Animal Control, the first incident occured Oct. 2 in the 3800 block of Ingraham Street. "Bear" (pictured, left) was taken to the veterinarian and is expected to recover.
The most recent incident happened Oct. 16 in the 2000 block of Emerald Street. According to 10News, the cat was set on fire and died."To viciously set fire to an animal is a cruel and criminal act," said Animal Advocates director Jane Cartmill. "Whoever committed these brutal burnings is a danger to both animals and human beings.""We are hopeful that this reward may be an incentive for someone to come forward with information that will identify the perpetrator," she added.If you see anything that might help investigators, call the San Diego County Department of Animal Control at (619) 236-2341.
