FALLBROOK - An Oceanside man was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Fallbrook early Thursday, authorities said.
The 36-year-old man was driving eastbound on State Route 76 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his Kia Sephia and clipped into a Nissan Altima who was traveling westbound at 6:53 a.m. The driver in the Kia continued sideways in the westbound lane and was broadsided by a Mercury Sable, according to witnesses.
The Kia driver was extracted from his vehicle by good samaritans but was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sable driver and passenger were transported to Palomar Hospital with moderate injuries, according to authorities.
State Route 76 had one way traffic in place for several hours because of the crash.
The collision remains under investigation.
