Two crashes in Point Loma occurred within two hours Thursday night.

The first crash occurred around 7:25 p.m. at Nimitz Boulevard and Rosecrans Street.Police say a 3-year-old boy got away from a relative who was watching him, and ran across Nimitz Street.He was hit, and severely injured by a pickup truck.The boy was taken to Rady Children's Hospital. He is not expected to survive.The Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was driven by a 54-year-old man. He was not cited or arrested, police say.The second crash happened around 9p.m. on the 3300 block of Cannon Street, just blocks from where the toddler was hit.Police say a woman in a Volkswagen Passat lost control of her car, drove over a sidewalk, into someone's front yard and crashed into a palm tree. She died from her injuries.Police say the woman may have had a pre-existing medical condition and that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.Copyright Do you have more information about this story?
