SAN DIEGO - One person was killed and two others injured in a four-vehicle crash Sunday in the Harborview section of San Diego, authorities said.
The crash at the intersection of Grape Street and Harbor Drive was reported at 7:10 p.m., said Michelle Ganon, director of marketing communications for the Port of San Diego.
Steve Thorn said he and his family were out looking at Christmas lights when they heard a tremendous crash and saw a car flipping towards them.
"The white car you see here hit the island and propelled itself and flipped over three or four times coming towards me -- he was moving that fast," Thorn said.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene but two others were taken to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available, Ganon said.
"He seemed to be in shock. We told him to stay here until paramedics arrived," Thorn said.
Harbor Drive was closed to traffic on the northbound side between Ash and Grape streets and on the southbound side between Laurel and Ash streets until around midnight, Ganon said.
The San Diego Fire Department was the first to arrive on scene. Investigators from the San Diego Police Department and San Diego Harbor Police Department also responded, she said.
