Pistons Sign Veteran Dale Davis

POSTED: 11:44 am PDT August 26, 2005

The Detroit Pistons signed veteran free agent forward Dale Davis to a multi-year contract on Friday. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 36-year-old Davis, who has spent most of his 14-year NBA career with the Indiana Pacers, will provide a major presence inside for the Pistons. He has averaged 8.4 points and 8.3 rebounds per game over his career, which also included stints with Portland and Golden State.

"We are excited to add Dale Davis to our roster for the upcoming season," Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars said. "Dale is a veteran presence that has proven himself in the regular season and playoffs. His defensive presence and rebounding will help solidify our bench while his experience will provide added value in our locker room."

Last year, after being released by the Warriors in March, Davis signed with Indiana and posted 6.9 points, 8.9 rebounds and 29.2 minutes in 25 games.

Davis will be reunited with former Portland Trail Blazers teammate Rasheed Wallace in Detroit.
