The battle for basketball supremacy in Los Angeles continues tonight, as the Lakers act as the host tonight against the Clippers at the Staples Center. This is the fourth and final meeting of the season between the teams. In the three previous contests, the Lakers won once as the visitor and once as the host, while the Clippers were the home team in the last contest on January 26th and were 105-89 winners over the Lakers. The Clippers snapped a five-game series losing streak on January 26th. The lakers have won 10 of the last 12 contests between the squads. The Clippers have lost seven straight at the Lakers. The Lakers, who play the finale of a three-game homestand, try to extend their winning streak to three games. On Sunday, Kobe Bryant scored a game-high 37 points as the Lakers won their second straight game with a 103-94 decision over the road-weary Indiana Pacers at the Staples Center. Bryant went 12-of-24 from the floor, 13-of-13 from the free throw line and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Lakers. Chucky Atkins added 16 points in the win over Indiana, while Chris Mihm finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Also reaching double figures for the Lakers were Lamar Odom with 13 and Caron Butler with 10. The Lakers are 8-3 in Tuesday games this season. Bryant is averaging 29.5 points and 5.9 assists in the Lakers' eight games since the All-Star break. The Lakers are 21-11 as the host this season. After tonight's game, the Lakers will embark on a season-high six-game road trip that will consist of visits to Dallas, Charlotte, Washington, Philadelphia, Miami and Indiana. The Clippers enter tonight's contest on a two-game losing streak. They will visit the Sacramento Kings on Friday in the second of a brief two-game road trip. On Monday, Lorenzen Wright scored 23 points and Brian Cardinal added 20 to lead the Memphis Grizzlies to a 105-102 victory over the Clippers at Staples Center. Corey Maggette scored a game-high 37 points in a losing effort. Bobby Simmons added 19 for the Clippers, who have lost three of four overall. The Clippers a dismal 6-22 as the visitor this season.
