We're in a new month, which means a brand new list of what to buy -- and what not to buy now -- from the savings site DealNews.com.

DealNews has just released its list of the best things to buy in October.

The site's researchers say it's tougher than usual to find things to buy right now, because the biggest shopping event of the year -- Black Friday -- is more than a month away.

In addition, all those summer clearance items are now gone.

Plants: DealNews says October is a great month to visit a nursery.  It says buy shrubs and perennial, because they are on sale now, and won't be next spring when you really want them.

2012 cars and trucks, as dealers clear their lots for the 13's.  You won't find many markdowns on 2013s, but you will on last year's models.

And blue jeans, of all things.

What not to buy in October? DealNews says there are three things to hold off on if you can.

Cold weather apparel: Most winter clothing is at full price right now. Of course, if you need it, you need it.  There will be some sales.

And TV's and Tablets.

Electronics go on sale in mid November, and especially around Black Friday.

Deal news says it's worth waiting if you can as stores are stocking up on TVs now for the November rush, and not having huge sales. And back to school laptop sales are now done.

But...

Finally, if you want a Nintendo Wii U, don't try to time it. Buy it whenever you can, because it's going to be very hard to find.

The presale is already sold out.
