On Monday, Nov. 11, the country will mark Veterans Day -- a day to honor those who have served in the armed forces.

Many restaurants and businesses will honor veterans with free meals, appetizers, car washes and other deals. The following deals have been verified for 2013. Note, some deals are for Monday, others are for different days.

First, let's start with a deal that is valid for everyone. Get free admission to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and national parks across the country on Nov. 9-11: http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparks.htm

The Save Our Heritage organization is thanking veterans and active duty military with free admission to the Whaley House (http://sohosandiego.org/main/whaley2.htm) or Marston House (http://sohosandiego.org/main/hoursmh.htm) museums. Check the museums' websites for hours.

Notorious Burgers in Carlsbad is offering a free Whitey Combo to all military veterans and active duty service members. Military ID or proof of service required. I LOVE THIS DEAL! Great Clips will give veterans a free hair cut on Nov. 11. If YOU get your hair cut on Nov. 11, they'll give you a coupon to give to a veteran for a free hair cut from Nov. 11 to Dec. 31. Anyone who has served in the U.S. military eats free at Golden Corral on Nov. 11 from 4-9 p.m. No ID required. Dine-in only. http://www.goldencorral.com/  *Note, even though the website says no ID required, Jeff says they asked him for ID last year.

Veterans and active duty military get a free breakfast item at Village Inn on Nov. 11. Choose from pancakes, a waffle or French toast. No purchase neccessary. It appears the free breakfast offer is valid all day.

There is nothing on the company's website, the information came in an email from the company. I've had MULTIPLE veterans and their families tell me that Home Depot offers a 10 percent military discount, but I can't find it on their website. Until I can find it on their website, I can not give you the official details.
