Sweet Citrus
Loren's Field Notes
What a bummer. You wait a whole year for your citrus tree to finish its crop, then you peel a piece of fruit, taste it and pucker up ... sour again!
You need Loren's special citrus fertilizer combination.
First mix equal parts of the following items:
Fish Meal
Kelp Meal
Cottonseed Meal
Hoof and Horn Meal
Spread two pounds for each inch of trunk diameter. Spread the mixture around the drip-line of the tree. Finish with trace minerals you'll get from a tablespoon of citrus growers mix (for sweetness) and cover with compost.
This is more expensive than chemical fertilizers but is only needed twice a year, so it saves work and in the long run costs about the same.
Add more citrus growers mix a couple weeks prior to harvest for super-sweet fruit.
