Teen graduates high school after almost drowning

Underwent extensive therapy after months in coma

SAN DIEGO - Graduation has special meaning to a teen who survived a near drowning and brain damage.

Last week, Alex Robinson graduated from The Learning Choice Academy. Robinson, 18 almost drowned after passing out while swimming at a pool in a Del Mar hotel last August.

He spent three months in a hospital, most of which was spent in a coma. He suffered brain damage followed by extensive therapy, allowing him to finish his studies and graduate.

Doctors found that Alex has a serious heart condition and recent tests show that his sister Lexie has a similar condition. The family anticipates more genetic testing and medical treatments.
