San Diego native looking for his stolen rare lizard: Drako was inside car stolen downtown

Darius Dio's bearded dragon missing since Sunday

SAN DIEGO - A San Diego native is desperately looking for his best friend -- a rare bearded dragon.

Darius Dio was visiting friends in downtown San Diego Sunday night. He parked his blue 2002 Lexus on 8th Avenue and Market Street and left his pet lizard, Drako, inside to warm up.

Dio returned a short time later to find his car with Drako inside was gone. Dio reported the car stolen to San Diego police, and police confirmed to Dio the car was not towed.

Dio said Drako is worth between $600 and $1,000.

Dio told 10News he doesn't care about the car; he just wants his 2-year-old lizard back. Dio said Drako is his best friend and travels with him wherever he goes.

Dio said his iPad was also in the car, and he told 10News he has been tracking it with a special app.

Dio now lives in Los Angeles and is a model. He most recently appeared in Target advertisements.
