BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - According to Hasbro, It's the trial of the century and the fate of every classic Monopoly token rests in the world's hands.

In an attempt to modernize the popular family game, Monopoly has decided to do away with a traditional game piece token forever.

The board game has opened up a poll on their Facebook page for fans to vote for the chance to save their favorite piece and vote in a new piece.

Traditional pieces include a car, thimble, boot, Scottie dog, battleship, hat, iron, and wheelbarrow.

The new pieces that have a chance of becoming a part of the Monopoly board game family includes a robot, ring, cat, helicopter, and guitar.

As of Wednesday morning, the wheelbarrow is in last place with two percent of votes, meaning it might be gone forever.

Monopoly was created in 1935 and has since become the most popular board game in the world, according to makers.  The game is currently sold in over 111 countries around the world and available in 43 different languages.
