Flappy Birds disappears from app stores

Creator tweets: 'I can't take it anymore'

The immensely popular and infamously difficult game Flappy Birds is no longer available on the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Creator Dong Nguyen announced he would pull it down on Sunday — tweeting "I can't take it anymore."

Nguyen didn't explain whether he meant the overwhelming popularity or claims that game was so addictive and difficult it was "ruining lives."

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You all will persevere. Come talk if you need it tomorrow. #FlappyBirds" tweeted @phs_art Sunday.

"Don't let #flappybirds into your house or the couch of tranquility will become the COUCH OF INSANITY!" tweeted @MikeMagan.

"Took me ages just to get this score! #flappybirds" @jackworthy13 tweeted -- with a screen shot showing a score of 1.

The game had been downloaded more than 50 million times and was the No. 1 download for almost a month.

Flappy Birds was making $50,000 a day in ad revenue, Nguyen told website the Verge.

The game is still available to people who already downloaded it.
