(KGTV) - It's pumpkin carving time! 10News has safety tips to make sure your jack o'lantern is worth a toothy grin.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department issued recommendations:
Carve your pumpkin in a well-lit area
Keep the pumpkin on a stable surface - don't pick it up!
Use tools designed for carving pumpkins instead of household knives
Have younger children draw their designs instead of carving
Use alternatives to candles such as battery-operated candles or glow sticks
