11/12/13: Judges perform once-a-century wedding ceremonies Tuesday

AKRON, Ohio - It only happens "once in a century," she says, and so to commemorate the special occasion, an Ohio judge has donned the rob as Justice of the Peace for a day. Many couples across the nation chose Tuesday to get married, thanks to its unique date structure: 11/12/13.

Akron Municipal Court Judge Kathryn Michael started performing weddings -- each one about 15 minutes long -- at 10 a.m. in the Harold K. Stubbs Justice Center on High Street in Akron.

That’s because Tuesday is November 12, 2013: 11/12/13.

Michael says in a news release, the date “has its own special meaning.”

The municipal court performs more than 500 ceremonies a year, according to the news release.
