10News Leadership Award Winner Mark Stringfield
10News honors Mark Stringfield who refurbishes old bicycles and donates them to people in need. Two years ago Stringfield’s pastor gave him $100 and told him to go out into the community and help someone. At first he was not sure how he could best use this money until a friend asked his wife if she knew of anyone who needed a bicycle. From this Stringfield, with the help of his wife and friends, began to paint, clean and fix bicycles and donated them to organizations like Alpha Project and the North County Solutions for Change. Both organizations are designed to help homeless families get back on their feet. The refurbished bicycles provide these people with transportation to work and school. Every week Stringfield and his friends meet at his home to repair bicycles that have been donated to them. Along with donations that Mark received to help cover the cost of the repairs, he and his team use their own money as needed. So far over 100 bicycles have been refurbished and given to people in the San Diego community.
Because of Mark and his hard working group of friends many people in need now have the gift of transportation. Mark is a dedicated, generous person who continually works to improve the lives of others. For more information, please call: 858-695-0541
